An update from Lee

An update from Lee for Team Finance.

Hi all,

I hope you and your families are well.

As we continue to work remotely I wanted to check-in and give a brief update and message of support to you all. Our focus at the moment is to do what we can under the current circumstances, and I think we are doing a great job as a team to keep essential services going for our staff and students, as well as continuing to work on our other priorities so we can resume our business as usual when we are able to return to our normal working patterns. Thank you all very much for your hard work.

I would encourage you to read the University’s webpage dedicated to how the University can support you through this time, including information on how to look after your wellbeing when working from home, support services and other practical information.

Over the past couple of weeks I have been dropping into team meetings across Team Finance to check-in, say a virtual hello and answer any questions that colleagues might have, Covid-19 related or not. Currently these are scheduled for Finance teams based in Charles Stewart House; if you are in a Finance team outwith Charles Stewart House and would like me to (virtually) drop by, please email Michelle.Dawson@ed.ac.uk for this to be arranged.

With all the negative news over the last month, there have also been endless stories of communities coming together and supporting one another. We’ve got some great positive news stories in this month’s bulletin to lift our spirits about how University staff and students are helping to fight the pandemic Do get in touch if you have your own story to tell and who knows, your story might make it onto the University website! Email finance.comms@ed.ac.uk

I will continue to update you as circumstances change, but at the moment we are continuing with this new ‘normal’ until further notice in a few weeks’ time. Once again thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work in a new and agile way, navigating the challenges of the current situation we are collectively facing. Please do not hesitate to contact myself or your line manager if you have any questions or concerns.

And finally, the photo on the right is of me and my son Ruairi on our daily walk - there's a prize for the first person to guess where we are! Email finance.comms@ed.ac.uk with your answer - good luck!

These are remarkable times, but remember, we are a remarkable team.
