My finance FAQs

We answer your questions

What Information will I find in MyFinance

You will find your balance due, including invoices and recent payments for tuition and University accommodation fees, whether paid by you or your sponsors.   To view payments you have made, select "Student Fees" and "All Items" from the drop-down menus. If you have made payments in advance, before being invoiced, you may have a credit balance, in other words, an overpayment amount. This credit balance will be applied to any future invoices you may need to pay.  You will also see any credit notes (showing a payment against some, or all, of an invoice) that have been applied to your account.  If you have an instalment plan already in place, you will be able to see its details too.  There’s more information about instalment plans below.

What actions can I carry out in MyFinance

You can use My finance to pay an invoice. See below for instructions on how to make a payment.  You can also make a payment in advance, without an invoice.  If you want to make a payment for tuition fees and don't yet have an invoice, use the tuition fees search page (https://www.ed.ac.uk/tuition-fees/find) to see how much you owe.  Staff from the Finance team can view your account, but cannot make any changes to your account.

I've already paid, so why does my bill show the amount owed as outstanding?

Sometimes the payments you make may not be shown against the oustanding bill as the payment has not yet been allocated. However, if you go to the "current items tab" on the Student Finance Channel, the amount you have paid will be shown as "unallocated" under the appropropriate section.

I have a entry on my bill that I don't think I am due. What can I do?
