New Appointment : Research Training Accountant

We are delighted to announce the appointment of a Research Training Accountant to focus on the skills and knowledge needed to support the financial management of Research Grants.

Loukia Koutsoventi, Research Training Accountant

Loukia Kousoventi will fully take on her new role from April 2019. Loukia is a qualified accountant and has worked in a number of research support roles at different institutions. Most recently she has been supporting the work of the Research Grants Section in the Finance Department. Among one of her many tasks will be further developing the “Managing Your Research Project” guidance already on our website. If you have any suggestions for other priorities please email her your ideas or comments.

"I am looking forward to starting my new role as Research Training and Procedures Accountant. I have a lot of ideas I would like to take forward and can’t wait to start. Working at Research Grants I found to be very interesting and rewarding, especially in getting to know about the great research our PIs and researchers are doing. 

On my new role I will review, produce and keep up to date procedures and policies in order to minimise risks, increase work efficiency, reduce duplication and maintain consistency between the section, schools and colleges.

I will develop training materials and deliver training sessions to section staff and school staff with a complete and easy to follow guide as well as induction training for new staff.

Under this remit I will monitor changes in sponsor processes, rules and regulations and update our records and staff. Moreover, I plan to develop and keep an active database of all sponsor portals, reporting requirements and deadlines to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the individual grants.

All the above are aimed at improving the communication and seamless collaboration between pre and post award sections, schools/colleges staff, and external sponsors." Loukia.Koutsoventi@ed.ac.uk
