An update to Interest Free Bike and Transport Loans

The way you apply for an Interest Free Transport Loan or Interest Free Bike Loan is changing:

What’s changing?

  • You will no longer access this service through the Transport Office. Payroll Services will provide this service from 2nd August 2021
  • To apply for a Transport Loan, just read the guidance and checklist and fill in our new improved application form
  • Payments will no longer be made via cheque - payments will be made direct to your bank account along with your next salary payment (normally the 28th of the month).
  • You will purchase your season ticket direct from the transport provider and a copy of your receipt should be submitted to payroll via Finance.Helpline@ed.ac.uk.
  • This now means a straight through direct application to payroll. The removal of paper forms /cheques and departmental hand-offs giving you a quicker improved service.

What’s not changing

  • The terms and conditions for application will not change although the location for these will no longer be held on the Transport Office web pages. These can now be found on the Payroll Services web pages.
  • The repayment term
  • The “Cycle to work Scheme” – designed to help save money on the purchase of a new bike

What do I need to do differently?
