When you need to update card details You will need to update the payment card used to pay your tuition fees if any of the following circumstances apply: the card has been lost the card was stolen the card has expired (you will receive an email reminder from us to let you know) the card provider or card number has changed (for example, if you switch from a Visa card to a Mastercard) you change bank accounts (for example, you have set up a new bank account in the UK) You will need to update the card details at least 7 days before your next payment date. How to update card details Use the link provided. Enter the email address that was used to set up your Recurring Card Payment (RCP) plan. The email address needs to be the cardholder’s email address. An email with instructions will be sent to the cardholder’s email address from help@payments.ed.ac.uk with the subject heading: ‘Card Update Authentication Email - University of Edinburgh’. Then you can update your card details for Recurring Card Payments with the link provided. The University will never send an email asking you to provide card details. Exchange rates charge If you are making a card payment in British pound sterling using a non-UK card, then you may need to pay currency exchange rates and this will be charged by the bank or card provider. The University does not charge a transaction fee for a debit card or credit card payment. Cancel your instalments If you want to cancel your instalment plan, you must contact the Income Section team at least 7 days before the next payment is due. Use the subject heading: 'Cancel RCP plan' in your email to the Income Section team. Email the Income Section team You can cancel your instalment plan at any time. But you must pay the remaining sum of money immediately in one payment, either by card payment or bank transfer.
