Need help with your instalment plan?

What to do if your plan has not been set up, your card is refused, or you are in financial difficulty and have problems paying your student academic fees.

Payment by the recurring card method for student academic fees instalment is due on the third of each month. Additional programme costs, if part of your course, are due on the 5th of each month, as per your agreed instalment plan and will be automatically taken by the University from your card provided on this date.

Do not make any other form of payment method against this instalment seven days prior to this date to prevent being charged twice.

If you’ve not received confirmation of your plan

Before we can set up your instalment plan, you need to complete online registration and provide your card details. We’ll issue your invoice and create your instalment plan once this is done.

If you haven’t received an invoice yet, you may have entered your card details but not completed online registration. Please log into your student account and check that your registration is complete.

If you submitted a query and entered your card details to complete online registration, we’ll issue an invoice once the issue is resolved if any student academic fees are payable by you.

Once the instalment plan has been set up, you can view the details in My finance if you log in to MyEd.

If you have a question about not receiving an invoice

If you have a question about a delayed invoice, you should contact the Fees team with the form provided.

August to October is the busiest time of year for issuing invoices.

If card payments are refused

Card payments may be refused if:

  • there is not enough money in the cardholder’s account
  • the card limit is not high enough
  • the bank suspects the payment may be fraudulent and prevents it going out

If an instalment payment fails to come out on the scheduled date, you will need to make a manual payment.

Pay by card or bank transfer

If you fail to pay your instalments, your plan will be cancelled and you will need to pay all remaining fees in one payment. For any future years of study, you will not be allowed to pay by instalment.

If you have problems paying your fees

Please contact EdHelp via the link in online registration if:

  • you need an extension of up to 1days - include the date you expect to make your payment and how you’ll pay.
  • you cannot make a payment in full or don’t have access to a valid payment method – such as a bank card for an instalment plan.

The card does not have to be for a UK bank account, or in your name, as long as you have the cardholder’s permission (for example, a parent or guardian).

If you experience financial difficulties during your studies for reasons beyond your control, please contact EdHelp. You will be asked to share details about your situation and, if possible, suggest a revised payment plan. You will also need to provide evidence of your circumstances.

We will review your case carefully and work with you to find the best way forward.

We do appreciate that financial difficulties can be very distressing however this does not mean that we are in a position to accommodate all alternative payment schedules proposed to us. Where this is the case, you will be asked to give the matter further thought and to work with us to achieve an acceptable outcome. You may also consider an interruption of study, with the consent of your Personal Tutor, Supervisor or Director of Studies, if your financial difficulty is extreme or likely to be long-term.

If you think you’re due a refund

You might need a refund if you have overpaid your tuition fees. This could happen if you have set up an instalment plan and then made manual payments as well.

To get a refund, you should contact Edhelp

We can only refund money to the original payer. You can find out more by reading our credit balance refund policy.
