An Interview with Finance Intern Ada Kaminska

An interview with Ada Kaminska on her time working with the Finance Helpdesk.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your recent role in the University Finance Department.

 

I am working in the Finance Helpdesk team as a part of my student placement experience. I started working at the end of May 2017. My main tasks are to resolve first line queries, triage calls to other second line teams and give help and advice to users of the corporate finance systems in use across the University.

 

What has it been like working in The Finance Department over the last year?

 

It was a definitely a very good experience for me; I met many lovely people across the University and I learnt a lot about financial systems and procedures. My work was mostly helping to solve queries regarding eFinancials, FPM and other systems and to set up users with access (eg eExpenses).

 

The Finance Helpdesk team was very helpful and kind to me during this time, allowing me to gain professional experience and learn many new skills.

 

What has been the highlight, something that you were pleased to be part of?

 

I really liked solving problems our users were having and advising them in use of our finance systems. Helping others and seeing results of this help is always a very satisfying thing to see.  I also enjoyed working with my team during this year taking part in photo shoot for the corporate branding and attending social events in Finance (especially the Christmas Night Out).

 

What’s next for you?

 

In September I am going back to finish my studies at Napier University. I will miss this job!
