If you have applied to Student Finance England or Student Finance Wales for a masters or doctorate loan and been granted funding, you will receive this directly from the loan provider. You are also responsible for paying any tuition fees not covered by your funding. We will send you an invoice for the full amount you need to pay at the start of your programme, once you have registered as a student. Register online as a student and arrange payment of your student academic feesAs part of matriculation, you will need to complete online registration and either confirm your funding or arrange payment of your student academic fees. This is a required step in the registration process, and in most cases, you will be able to pay in instalments.How to complete your online registration You will receive an email to your University of Edinburgh email account to let you know when you can access the online student registration form and pay your student academic fees.Payment optionsPay in instalments To pay in instalments you will need to provide card details and other information, including the cardholder’s address, so that we can set up an instalment plan. We will use the card details you provide to set up an instalment plan and take payment on scheduled dates. Instalment dates will be displayed during online student registration for reference. These dates may change if your plan cannot be set up before the first payment is due. If this happens, we will email you and the revised payment schedule will appear in My finance channel in MyEd.For postgraduate students with a UK government loan, RCP instalments come out on 3 fixed dates: 33% of your fees will be taken on 3 October33% of your fees will be taken on 3 February34% of your fees will be taken on 3 May Please note, this is different to the standard instalment plan schedule that you will see on the main pay by instalment page. If you have paid a depositIf you have paid a deposit towards your programme, this will be deducted from the total amount of fees you have to pay. Your deposit will not appear on your invoice. If you pay your deposit early in the year, there may be a delay before this shows on your student account. If you pay your tuition fees in one payment, make sure you deduct the deposit from the total amount. If you pay with RCP, the deposit will automatically be deducted from your 3 instalments. If you have problems paying your fees If you need an extension up to 10 days, please email finance.helpline@ed.ac.uk and confirm the date you are expecting to make this payment by and how it will be paid.
