Procurement Shortlisted for Major Award

The University of Edinburgh has been shortlisted for the Procurement Initiative of the Year for the 2020 Procura+ Award, a prestigious, Europe-wide competition that showcases sustainable and innovative procurement in the public sector.

The Procura+ Network is one of the largest networks for public procurers in Europe, founded by ICLEI, or Local Governments for Sustainability, and funded in part by the European Union.

With a record number of entries, the University of Edinburgh was the only higher education institution and the only UK organisation to be shortlisted for its work to engage University suppliers and leverage procurement activity to achieve community benefits, inclusive growth, and collaborative innovation to address challenges like the climate emergency.

The Procurement team has co-led work like this in partnership with the University’s Social Responsibility and Sustainability Department, Data Driven Innovation (DDI) team, Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI), and many others. Also nominated were the city of Copenhagen, Denmark, the city of Haarlem, Netherlands and BBG, Austria’s federal procurement agency.

Two finalists will be announced in August and the winner will later be announced at Procura+/ICLEI’s annual conference, which will likely be held remotely this year. For more information, see: https://procuraplus.org/awards/
