Strategic Finance 29th August 9.30 – 12.30

This is a new ½ day course intended to provide a high level overview of the University's financial management processes and is aimed at Heads of Sections, Heads of Schools, senior staff involved in planning and budgeting processes etc. The course will provide an understanding of:

  • The finance context
  • Your responsibilities in relation to financial control and the role of Internal Audit
  • Financial reporting and governance processes in the University
  • Pensions matters - costs, complexities and schemes
  • What makes a good business case and how we decide
  • Planning/Budgeting/Forecasting - our approach
  • Q&A - opportunity to ask operational questions about processes/systems

Finance for Non-Finance Managers 3rd September 9.30 – 16.30  

This one-day course gives non-accountants a basic understanding of finance. The course will provide an understanding of:
